Group Information
Scandinavian – Boulder Scandinavian Dancers | Social Dance
We are a performance group promoting the dance and music of Scandinavia. We perform for schools, assisted-living facilities, and at various festivals in the Denver Metro area, and occasionally farther afield. Music for performances is live, provided by either the Boulder Spelemannslag, a group of young fiddlers under the direction of Sharon Gillespie, or by members of the dance group, many of whom play an instrument and/or sing.
We sponsor several dance events:
- A monthly social dance on the 2nd Saturday of each month.
- Fifth Saturday Bygdedans – Featuring a wide range of Swedish and Norwegian traditional dances, emphasizing less commonly done dances, with reviews as needed. Suggestions welcome, in advance or on the spot. On fifth Saturdays of the month (about four times a year).
- An annual Spring Dance and Music Weekend with teachers from Sweden or Norway, teaching both dance and music.
